The year 2023 completely disregarded the unknowns linked to the long period of drought of the previous year.

Significant rains continued until the end of the Winter, which was colder than the previous one and actually lasted until the end of February, and allowed the vines to start physiological activity normally after the vegetative rest.

The fluctuating climate did not stop the regular development of the vines, which was enhanced during the rains and low temperatures of May and June, requiring a lot of attention to control early plant diseases and avoid excessive drops in production.

July was warm and stable. After veraison at the beginning of August, it was possible to see, against the forecasts, that the harvest would take place on a regular basis. This has in fact allowed the achievement of ideal phenological ripening parameters at the same time as optimal technological ones.

The wines

The white grapes ripened in the first week of September with excellent acidity values and a sugar content that was not excessive as found in previous years, creating extremely balanced wines.

Dolcetto and Barbera also presented lower sugar contents than in previous years but with a greater balance between the various elements producing  pleasant and elegant wines.

Nebbiolo once again shows its ability to adapt to these hills and these climates with phenolic and technological levels typical of great vintages, without correlation between summer heat and excessive sugars or drops in acidity.

In conclusion, we are looking forward to a year with wines that are elegant, balanced, pleasant, but with a great potentiality in evolution so, in one word, typical of a classic vintage.
