1994 Harvesting
Heavy rainfalls and a moderately cold climate characterized the winter months, while in March one of the first anomalies able to affect the vegetative development occurred: long sunny periods and poor preciptations when compared to average rainfall.
The conditions favourable to an early vegetation dramatically changed in April, though, with a drop in the lowest temperatures falling even below zero.
In July summer developed temperatures higher than usual with little rainfall. September and October were excessively cold and rainy.
The wines
The year’s very unfavourable climatic trend definitely affected the quality of this vintage, which is poor and which resulted into only acceptable wines (somehow diluted), rather unbalanced from the point of view of acidity. These wines are, therefore, suitable for short ageing only.
