The Ascheri Method
In the mid-nineteenth century the Ascheri method brought a considerable innovation in the training systems of the vines.
Until then only wooden supports were used, while this new method involved, for the first time, the use of iron wire, which still represents an essential tool for the realization of a vineyard.
From “ Monograph on Vine-Growing and Oenology in the Cuneo Province” by LORENZO FANTINI – 1879.
In his estate in La Morra , the late Dr. Matteo Ascheri adopted a vine cultivation system which is both old and modern.
The system can be seen from the front in Table II ( picture A ). Picture B shows the plan, while picture C shows the position of the vine.
