The additional geographical definitions of Barolo

With the 2010 vintage, the list of the Additional Geographical Definitions of the “Barolo” denomination is made official.
This is an important step because, from this date on, the so-called “sub-regions” will be defined in their number and in their bounded extension. In particular, there are 170 sub-regions and 11 denominations by municipality.

Among these, in the municipality of La Morra there is also the sub-region Ascheri , where our family originated and from which it draws its name.
For this reason, from the vintage 2010 onwards , we produce 4 different Barolo made from 4 different selections of territory.

In particular Barolo Pisapola from Verduno, Barolo Sorano from Serralunga , Barolo Coste&Bricco from a selection of two vineyards in Sorano  and Barolo Ascheri from La Morra, which was fermented separately for the first time in the vintage 2010, and that, like to other 3 selections will be produced only in exceptional vintages, so approximately 3/4 every 10.

This wine has an intense garnet red colour with a rich bouquet of ripe fruit, candied fruit, sweet tobacco and spices. Its tannins are elegant and perfectly integrated in order to express a refined power.
